Emma was married to Stanley G. Chant on 20 December 1893. They had 11 children:

  1. Douglas (1895-1986). He was married 1st to Irene McMillan, 2nd to Kay McMillan.
  2. Mary (1897-1897)
  3. Beulah (1898-1977). She was married to Charlie Vivian.
  4. Joseph (1901-1952). He was married to Molly Smith.
  5. Doris (1903-1995). She was married 1st to Reford "Dick" Cameron, 2nd to Francis Werry.
  6. Theodore "Ted" (1905-1995). He was married to Grace Marshall.
  7. Stanley (female) (1907-2001). She was married to Tom Venner.
  8. Christopher (1910-1993). He was married to Tess Savage.
  9. George (1912-2005). He was married to Lulu Thompson.
  10. Allen (1916-2011). He was married to Marian McGivney.
  11. Miriam (1918-2002). She never married.

Emma to Joe, 12 July 1918

Hampton,  R.R. 1  12th July 1918  My Dear Boy,  I cannot just remember when I wrote to you but it's time to write again anyway.  I'm up you see today not exactly "on peck" yet but right side up and able to help myself and move around a little which is quite a treat. We've got another dandy baby - just about like Allen and the rest of you were. She is fat (I said she looked like Mrs. Charlie Currier!) and sleepy and doesn't ask anything more than her due in the line of care and attention - so I guess we will get along. We named her Sunday - "Miriam Matilda". "Miriam" for everyday use - "Matilda" after Grandma C - Do you know who the first "Miriam" was?  Grandpa Chant came on Tuesday. Maple Lane Farm Hampton 12th Nov 1922 My Dear Joe, Doris got your letter yesterday and we are sorry our letters of two weeks ago were so slow getting to you (Likely you got 'em since you wrote) but we are pleased your apples made the journey safely anyway. Last week I got a nice kind invitation from Aunt Ida to go down there for Thanksgiving. If we could have known the weather would stay so mild we might perhaps have gone, But there's always such a plenty of work to do this time of year and of course I'm farther behind than ever now because I've not only lost time, I've got so I cannot hurry.  There was a Ladies Aid meeting last week and I didn't go because I didn't want to - and Doris told them over the phone that I wasn't well enough - so they sent me nice plant along with other ??? like "Mrs Robins, etc. The family think the joke is on me.
