Emma to Joe, sometime in 1923
My Dear Joe,
I've just a few minutes to add a line to this & then I'll write later on.
Beulah has been home again for ten days - in bed most of the time - Went' back again yesterday - Charles didn't draw much of a prize, so far, eh?
My dear, I want to say we are glad you had "get" enough to go to "the bush" rather than "bum" around town waiting for something to turn up - Oshawa is plumb full of gentleman out of work - There's going to be real distress there and elsewhere before Spring. A steady job with board isn't to be sneezed at at the present time.
Papa is off to the Solina fruit-house this A.M. to meet a possible purchaser from Gananoque - This fellow is after Starks in bulk - wh is all thanks be - we have left now. The Association has the others. Maybe we'll get something from 'em finally 430 + bbls apples went off this farm this season.
Well! bye for now. Stick to it Joe - you are all right.
Your loving
Mother
